Joel J. Fachting passed away suddenly Sunday November 1, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw. He was 44 years old. Joel had lived in West Branch for all of his life. He graduated from Ogemaw Heights High School in 1984 and went on to receive his associate’s degree from Michigan State University. Joel was a past member of the FFA, 4H and The Beef Club. He loved to farm and worked at LJL Farms in West Branch. He enjoyed working with his registered Angus Cattle. Most of all, Joel loved his family and loved spending time with his children. Joel is survived by his children Megan and Jack Fachting and step-son Brandon Boyd all of West Branch, his mother Connie Fachting-Besaw of West Branch, sister Mona (Richard) Eichler of Lebanon, TN; and his brother Mike (Julie) Fachting of Prescott. Also surviving are several nieces,nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. John Fachting. Visitation for Joel will be Thursday November 5, 2009 from 1-9 PM and Friday from 10-1 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. There will be a scripture service Thursday evening at 5:00PM. The funeral Mass will be Friday November 6, 2009 at 1:30PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Joseph endowment Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
