Joan Christine Rynicki, age 98 of Sterling, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ascension Skilled Nursing in Standish, MI. Joan was born on October 28, 1921 to Konstanty and Frances Zalewski in Detroit, MI. She lived in Sterling and West Branch since 2006, formerly of Westland, MI. Joan was a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Detroit, MI, Polish Women’s Alliance of America, and was Treasurer of Daughters of Isabella Tekakwitha Circle #924 in Detroit, MI. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting, crossword puzzles, and dancing.
Joan is survived by son, Robert (Mary) Rynicki of Sterling, daughter-in-law, Josephine Rynicki of Livonia, grandchildren; Michael (Kimberly) Rynicki, Mark (Kelly) Rynicki, Tina (Jeff) England, great-grandchildren; Mallory, Michael, Sean, Travis, Robert, Austin, Marina, and many great-great-granchildren. Also surviving is sister, Dorothy Orcher of Canton, MI. She is preceded in death by husband, Edward Rynicki in 2008, sister, Frances Caron, brothers, Leonard and John Zalewski.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 1-6 PM with a Rosary being said at 3:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Mass. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate. Burial will take place on Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, MI at 12:00 PM.
