Jesse G. Childers, age 75, passed away December 4, 2004 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Mr. Childers had been a resident of West Branch since 1998, formerly of Byron, Michigan. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of West Branch and enjoyed hunting and golfing. Mr. Childers was a residential builder, a toolmaker and owned and operated Childer's Lawn & Garden in Byron. He was a member of the Board of Education in Byron and coached Little League for several years in Byron. Surviving family members include his wife Joyce of West Branch, son Ken (Deb) Childers of Byron, daughter Marcia (Dan) Schlueter of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter Diane (Jay) DeBoer of Middleville, MI; son Bob (Diana) Childers of Byron; son Bruce (Susan) Childers of Coopersville, MI; son Jerry (Millie) Childers of Gaines, MI; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children, 9 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Fred (Marge) Childers of Lakeview, MI; Ted (Carol) Childers of Idaho; Jim (Mary) Childers of Sun City Center, FL and Roger (Sylvia) Childers of Vancouver, WA. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held from 2-9 p.m. on Monday December 6, 2004. Mr. Childers funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 7, 2004 at the Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch with Pastor Tom Teall officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
