Jesse B. Hopper, a Paratrooper, who served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, made his final jump on October 17, 2012 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He was born October 16, 1929 in Detroit, the son of Jessie B. and Evon (Turner) Hopper. Jesse was a resident of West Branch, Michigan since 2002 and previously resided in Ocklawaha, Florida. He was a charter member and past chairman of the North Central Florida All Airborne Chapter and a member of the American Legion Post #370 in Skidway Lake. Jesse was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jesse is survived by Ellen, his wife of 59 years, daughters, Vicky Colopy of Lexington, KY, Bonnie (Lee) Kostus of Linwood, Linda Carps of Traverse City, son, Gary (Eva) Hopper of Ludwigshafen, Germany, grandchildren, Philip, Audra, Kristi, Brandon, Bryan, Melanie, Jessica, great-grand children, Shane, Parker, Kylie, Emily, Josh, Isabella, and nephew, Paul (Barbara) Hopper of Chelsea, MI. He is preceded in death by brother, Robert Hopper. Visitation will be Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Services will immediately follow with Pastor Dan Stoneback officiating.
