Jelima M. Gustafson age 99 of West Branch, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She had lived in West Branch area since 1943. Jelima was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Ladies Aid, and the Clement Fire Department. She owned and operated the Toutant General Store from 1943 to 1974 in Gladwin County. Jelima was an active bowler at Ogemaw Lanes and loved to play Bingo. Jelima is survived by daughter, Betty Guy of West Branch, daughter, Lorraine (Chum) Illig of West Branch, son, Wallace (Donna) Toutant of Killeen, TX, stepson, Jim Gustafson of West Branch, 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Oscar Toutant and Albert “Swede” Gustafson, son, Robert Toutant, daughter, Katherine Toutant, grandchildren, Alan Guy, Michael Toutant, and great-grandchildren, Danny Guy and Kathryn Cearbaugh. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 1-9 pm with Scripture Service at 7:00 pm. The Celebration of the Funeral Liturgy will be on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with viewing from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Project.
