Jean Marjory Schnautz, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at her home in West Branch, MI surrounded by her family. She was born in Saginaw, MI on October 24, 1925, to Frederick and Nellie (St. Mary) Knapp. She lived in West Branch since 1969, formerly of Saginaw.
On June 1, 1946, she married the love of her life, Ralph Schnautz. They had an incredible 74 years together and raised 8 children. She loved to dance, play cards, and entertain. You didn’t know her if you never had her raspberry pie.
She was an active member of Holy Family Church. Jean held the office of DCCW President at Holy Family Catholic Church and the Diocese of Gaylord for many years. Her other love of life was her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. They always knew there was a treat waiting at Grandma’s. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and friend to many.
Jean leaves behind 7 children, Pat (Mike) Kuhn, John (Mary Jane) Schnautz, Joan (Virgil) Neubecker, Ken (Kathy) Schnautz, Rose (William) Izworski, Marie (nee Schnautz) Hurren, and Tom (Marsha) Schnautz; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Ralph and her daughter Marilyn (nee Schnautz) Dilloway.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church - Klacking Creek, in West Branch on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 1:00 p.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate.
