Janet Elsie Oaks

Janet Elsie Oaks, age 84, of Gladwin, MI passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. She was born on July 7, 1939, in Pontiac, MI, to Arthur and Helen (Lupfer) Forgette. She lived in the Alger area since 1981, formerly of Lake Orion, MI.

Janet was a retired employee of Credian Manufacturing in Rochester, MI, where she worked until 2005. She was also known for her role as the Governor of Michigan Bow Hunters and was a member of the Edwards Community Church.

Janet was a giving individual who loved helping people. She had a passion for hunting, photography, and volunteering at Clement Fire Department. She will be remembered for her kind and selfless nature.

Janet is survived by her children: Bonita (Jim) Mattson of West Branch, Nancy (Jim) Hulett of Ortonville, MI, Rick Oaks of Alger, Tim (Debbie) Oaks of Fenton, MI, and Sam Oaks Jr. of Gladwin. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel Oaks, her daughter Kimberly Muenz, her son Gary Oaks, brother Bill Forgette, and sister Virginia Hedgen.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
