James Russell Doan

James Russell Doan, age 74, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at The Villa at Rose City. He was born on January 10, 1946 in Hazel Park, MI to Erwin and Dorine (Pike) Doan. Jim served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1965-1969. He lived in West Branch for over 20 years, formerly of Utica. He was a member of the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch. Jim enjoyed black powder reloading, hunting, fishing, rescuing dogs and spending time with his wife.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Cheryl Doan; children, Jacqueline Doan, Jennifer (Alan) Danielcyk and Jeremy Doan; step-children, Brian (Kathryn) Hoxie and Catherine (Marcus) Trammel; grandchildren, Patrick Doan, Natalie Doan, Natalie Trammel, Addison Trammel, Jax Trammel, Tyler Trammel, Samie Hoxie and Walter Danielcyk; siblings, Barbara Sipple, Gerry Boomer, Patrick (Nancy) Doan and Mike (Debbie) Doan; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Justice

Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI with veteran honors at a later date.

A memorial service at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church will take place at a later date.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.
