James Robert Schuler, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at The Villa at Rose City. He was born on May 1, 1932 in Flint, MI to Robert and Dollie (Benjamin) Schuler. He had lived in West Branch since 1996, previously of Flint. James served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Freida Crapo in West Branch on August 15, 1953. He was a member of the West Branch Church of Nazarene. He enjoyed farming, John Deer tractors, and carpenter work.
James is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Freida Schuler of West Branch; daughter, Melody (Bill) Hickmott of Mt. Morris, MI; son, Gary Schuler of Ivor, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ben) Watson, Maria (Nicholas) Watson, Elizabeth Hickmott, and Rebecca (Patrick) Callahan; great grandchildren, James, Isabella, and Lucy; and sister, Jean (Larry) Farley of West Branch. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service with military honors at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Leslie Barkman, Pastor Don Miner and Pastor William Dyke will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the West Branch Church of the Nazarene.
