James Richard Gabourie

James Richard Gabourie, age 56, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at McLaren Flint Hospital in Flint, MI. He was a resident in West Branch, MI for the past 15 years, formerly of Dearborn Heights and Adrian, MI. Jim was born on December 20, 1960 to Richard and Joyce (Vogel) Gabourie in Dearborn, MI. On October 15, 1988, he married Geralyn Evon in Dearborn Heights. Jim was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a church usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight. Jim volunteered with the Lions Club in West Branch and St. Vincent DePaul. He also belonged to a darts league, and a bowling league at Ogemaw Lanes. He enjoyed playing Euchre, loved animals and was passionate about music. Jim was a barefoot outdoorsman and also enjoyed traveling, art, theater, movies, cooking and watching the Detroit Tigers. Jim was a loving husband and nurturing father.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Geralyn Evon-Gabourie of West Branch; children, Autumn Gabourie and Logan Gabourie of West Branch; parents, Dick and Joyce Gabourie of Ann Arbor, MI; siblings, Sue (Mark) Krench of South Lyon, MI, Tom (Cheri) Gabourie of Park City, UT, Mary (Chris) Salata of Ann Arbor, MI, Janet (Eric) Schingel of Fishers, IN, Terri (Guy) Braden of Houston, TX, and Kathy Deschaw of Frisco, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a K of C Rosary and Scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home will continue on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 4:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 3:00 p.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
