James Ralph Illig went to be with the Lord and his late daughter, Linda, on July 13, 2007 after his fight with a illness the last four weeks. James was born on August 7, 1928 to the late Joseph and Justina (Green) Illig. James served in the Army 2 years. He married his wife Geraldine Bennett on June 4, 1955. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Tiger ball games. He enjoyed being a little league manager for his son's team. James loved his children and grandchildren and playing jokes on people and having a good time. James was a well liked person and will be sadly missed. Besides his wife Geraldine, survivors also include two daughters, Althea (Don) Ball, Marsha (Dale) Allen, two sons Garry (Sally) Illig, Larry (Shannon) Illig, sisters, Helen Pratt, Genevieve Kolberg, Georgina (Don) Brick, Irene (Richard) Funch, brothers, Ambrose (Marie) Illig, Adolph (Dorothy) Illig. James in-laws, Judy (Richard) Stillwagon, Kenneth (Judy) Bennett, John Bennett, Shirley Bennett. James also had 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. James was preceded by brothers Leo, Edward, Alfred, Lloyd, in-laws LeRoy and Marie Bennett, Leo Bennett, Conrad Kolberg and two nephews. Visitation will begin on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch from 1-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2007 at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Gary Page will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
