James O. Lemon, age 94 of West Branch, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at his home. He had lived in West Branch since 1996, formerly of Mio. James married Betty Mae Hammond on May 24, 1946 in Hale. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, K of C, and Civilian Conservation Corp. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, golfing, bird watching, and woodworking, especially making bird houses, feeders, and nests. James was in the 5th Division of the 3rd Army in World War II. James is survived by wife, Betty Mae of West Branch, daughter, Gail (Ronald) Quigley of West Branch, son, Gerald Lemon of East Palm Beach, FL, son, Thomas (Jeanne) Lemon of Charlevoix, and brother, Sherl (Viola) Lemon of Columbia, TN. Also surviving are grandchildren, James, Janice, Jason, Darcy, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by great grandchild and great-great grandchild. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10:00 am with family receiving friends from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands.
