James M. Smolarz

James M. Smolarz, age 48, of St. Helen, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007 at his home. He had been a resident of St. Helen for most of his life. He was a Roscommon County Commissioner, President of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Zoning Board and the Planning Commission and participated in the St. Helen Blue Gill Festival. He raised funds and helped build the Richfield Township Playground. He enjoyed hunting and scuba diving in Mexico. James is survived by his children, Lyndsay Smolarz and Michael Smolarz both of Marysville, parents; Michael and Gail Smolarz of South Lyon, his sister, Lorraine Salins and nephew Christopher Salins both of South Lyon and his fiancé, Shari Dickson of Roscommon. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 1-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the funeral home. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate. Burial will be at South Lyon City Cemetery on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.
