James Gary Massey, age 72, of West Branch passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, July 7, 2023, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on March 27, 1951, in Flint, MI.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Clio High School and graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a masters in criminal justice. During Jim’s early years of college, he worked at Badcocks Meat Market in Clio as a meat cutter. After graduating, he worked for the State of Michigan, working in Saginaw and the Detroit area for 20 years. Then he worked for Saginaw County for 25 years as a criminal investigator and financial investigator for the Saginaw County Prosecutors Office, retiring in 2016.
Jim is survived by his wife Norma of West Branch, and his dog Taz. He is preceded in death by his parents George and June Massey and brother Ronald Massey.
His death will leave a huge hole in the lives of many.
Per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Chaplin Randy Brokaw will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, those planning on expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Compassus Hospice.
