James Edgar Martinson

James E Martinson (Jim), 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI surrounded by his family.

Jim was born August 9, 1936, in Detroit MI to John and Imogene Martinson. Jim spent his career working as a hydraulic engineer then as a West Branch, MI business owner. Jim spent his recent years living in West Branch during the summer and Indian Rocks Beach, FL, in the winter. Since selling his business JEM Fluid Power, Inc. in 1990, Jim has kept busy enjoying golf, deer hunting, playing cards and trivia, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Mary Ellen (McDonnell); 5 daughters, Mary Martinson of Cary, NC, Kate Martinson of Traverse City, MI, Lynn (Scott) Siege of Scottsdale, AZ, Suzanne (Roger) Clare of Alger, MI and Nancy Green of Wixom MI; 7 grandchildren, Ann Marie (R.J.) Casey, Nick Green III, Cory (Tracy) Clare, Kyle (Stephanie) Clare, Aaron Clare, Jordan Rivett and James Rivett; and 2 great grandchildren, Ross and Evie Clare.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, July 21, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in West Branch at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St Joseph’s Catholic School or a charity of the donor’s choice.
