James Duane Ralston, age 86, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home in Alger, MI surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Alger since 1986, formerly of Montrose, MI. James was born on November 5, 1934 in Flint, MI to William and Monett (Fellows) Ralston. He married Joyce Parkhouse in Flint on October 27 ,1956.
James graduated from Beecher High School in 1952. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1955. He was a radio operator, typing 65 words per minute. James worked for General Motors as a relief man from 1956-1986 at the Chevrolet Downtown Flint. He also owned South End Ambulance Company in 1956 and saved many lives.
James was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He liked to drink beer with his many friends and family in his pole barn and listen to country music and shooting pool. He also enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and golf cart to the Beaver Dam.
James is survived by his children, Dennis (Mary) Mallory of Hale, Cindy Ralston of Alger and Brenda Ralston of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Daniel, Jimmy, and Kevin; great grandchildren, Lily, Dax and Jason; and sister, Loretta (Jim) Henry of Clio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce, son, James, grandson, Richie, great grand-daughter, Violet Ann, and sisters, Alice, Naomi, and Margaret.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
