James “Big Jim” Donald Bove, age 90, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Prescott, MI. He was born to James and Madeline Bove in Brooklyn, NY on July 25, 1924. Jim had lived in the West Branch area since 1988, formerly of Rockville Centre, NY. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in WWII. Jim was a police officer for the New York City Police, and once he retired, he owned and operated Hilltop House Antique’s in Prescott, MI since 1988. Jim enjoyed every part of antiques. He specialized in clock repair and enjoyed fixing and restoring antique cars.
Jim is survived by his children: James (Stella) Bove of Brooklyn, NY, Madeline (Howard) Mandel of Staten Island, NY, Anne (Dennis) O’Shea of Staten Island, NY; grandchildren: Shawn, Scott, Heather, and Ryan; great grandchildren: Aiden and Samuel; and close friend, Vicky Grisham of Skidway Lake, MI. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Ingerman; sister, Eleanor Ciccone; and second wife, Barbara Bove.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ogemaw County Humane Society or Hospice of Helping Hands.
