James D. Evans

James D. Evans age 75 of West Branch, formerly of Monroe, went home to be with his Lord peacefully on Friday November 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the song leader at Calvary Baptist Church for a number of years, a member of the Crossing Jordan Mens Quartet, the Michigan Association of Pupil Transportation, the NRA and Calvary Baptist Church. Jim loved to hunt and was an avid University of Michigan fan. Jim is survived by his wife Louella Evans of West Branch; his children; Kathy (Greg) Borror of Bailey, CO, James (Terri) Evans of Sault Ste. Marie, Kelley Evans of Oscoda, Rebecca Castillo-Evans of Shreveport, LA, Jennifer (Steven) Morrison of Tulsa, OK, Jeremy James (Keren) Evans of Lupton and Cynthia (Randall) Scott of West Branch; his grandchildren; Joshua, Patrick, Caleb, Rachel, Lydia, Julia, Esther, Joanna, Elisha, Elijah, Josiah, Hannah and Noah. Also surviving is his brother, Ritch (Kathleen) Haynes of Brentwood, CA. He was preceeded in death by a daughter, Vicky Lynn Evans, his parents Lawton and Edith Evans, a sister, Fontella Wagoner and 2 infant brothers. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. and Friday from 11-9 p.m. On Saturday, Jim will lie in state at the Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate with burial following at the Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
