James Robert Briese Sr.

James Robert Briese Sr., a devoted family man and master carpenter, passed away peacefully at his home in West Branch, Michigan, on September 15, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February13, 1938 in Flat Rock, Michigan to Frederick and Willa (Hicks) Briese.

James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, a commitment that reflected his caring and kind nature throughout his life. He built a career as a master carpenter and building inspector, where his skills and attention to detail were highly regarded.

James found joy in simple pleasures. He spent his free time enjoying hunting, fishing, and cutting firewood, activities that brought him closer to nature and provided relaxation throughout the years.

James was a loving father to his son, James Briese Jr. of West Branch, and his daughter, A'Lisa (Michael) Holtschlag of Brookfield, IL. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Noah and Austin, who were sources of great pride and joy in his life.

James is survived by his sister, Diane (Tom) Crossman of Port Huron, MI, and his brother, David (Annette) Briese of Cleveland, OH. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Briese, and his sisters: Emma, Betty, Denise, Debra, and Barbara, as well as his brother, William.

James Robert Briese Sr. will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and the positive impact he had on those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
