James Allen Rhead

James Allen Rhead, beloved husband, father and grandfather of West Branch, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 surrounded by his family. Jim was born the youngest of three children to Hugh and Frances Rhead on August 5, 1933 in Black River Falls, WI. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force as a medic during the Korean War from 1951-1955. Jim married his beloved wife, Rita Ann Novak on October 5, 1957 in Detroit, MI. Since 1996, Jim called Lake Ogemaw his home and was formerly of Warren and St. Clair. Jim’s career spanned 33 years of service as a Data Processing Supervisor for the Chrysler Motor Company. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, boating, fishing and spending time with his wife and family. Jim was a devoted patriarch and created many lasting memories with his family. He also served his community and faith as a member of the Holy Family Church and Knights of Columbus.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Rita of West Branch, children, Sharon (Terry) Black of West Branch, David Rhead of Rochester Hills, Laura Bonello of Rochester Hills, Christian Rhead of Sterling Heights, 6 grandchildren; Jill, James, Jesse, Colin, Nicklas, and Hadley. Also surviving is sister, Beverly Michael of St. Charles, IL, brother-in-law, Richard Branch of Lupton, sister-in-law, Ann Rhead of Bartlett, TN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Frances Rhead and brother, David Rhead.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with visitation starting from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
