Ivan Rolland Doxey, age 88, of West Branch went to his heavenly home on January 5, 2007. Ivan R. “Doc” Doxey was born May 27, 1918 in Adrian, MI to L.H. Doxey and Dorothy B. Kirchner; they precede him in death Doc proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 as a Corporal. He was attached to the Headquarters Battery 400 Armored Field Artillery Battalion Tank Division In Europe and the Aleutian Islands. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Doc retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1973 after 33 Years as a rural route carrier in Clio and then in Montrose, MI. He retired a second time from the United Methodist Church in Eustis, Fl. after 11 years as a custodian/groundskeeper. Doc and his wife Dorothy then made their home in West Branch in 1987. Doc was a member of Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church. He loved gardening, planting trees and working in and around his home. Doc had a full and happy life with his wife, his children and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Doc is survived by his wife Dorothy (Johnston) Doxey; his children Rolland George Doxey of Piqua, OH and Marilyn Diane Deleon of Edinburgh, IN; Grandchildren Jeremy L. Doxey, Valori J. Bagby, Sallie L. Doxey, Tony R. Leek Jr., Doris J. “Jeannie” Deleon, Marilyn N. “Nikki” Deleon; Great Grandchildren Jenna N. (Bee) Norton; Christina M, Jessica A., and Pamela R. Bagby; Matthew D. and Lisa K. Doxey; Sister Ruth Hayes. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Jean Nichols. Memorials may be made to the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 109 E. Houghton Ave. West Branch, MI 48661 on Monday January 8, 2007 from 12:30-2:30PM. Funeral Services will be on Monday at 2:30PM at the Funeral Home. Internment will be at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. at 11:30 AM Tuesday.
