Helena Isobel Kerr

Helena I. Kerr (nee Shurtz), age 95, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Peaceful Acres Assisted Living in West Branch, MI. She was born to Martin and Etta (Hill) Shurtz in Milton, PA on June 16, 1920. Helena was formerly of Clawson, MI.

Helena is survived by daughter-in-law, Suzanne Kerr; great grandson, Eric (Lindsay) James; brother, Gerald (Marlene) Shurtz; special friends, Tom and Linda Kartes; god daughter, Brandi (Ricky) Clemens; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Kerr, son, Robert S. Kerr Jr., daughter, Cheryl Ann Kerr, granddaughter, Jodi Lynne (Eric) James, and dear friend, Roy Simmons. Also preceding her in death is brother, Martin Shurtz, and sister, Lois Lemke.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. On Monday, November 16, 2015 Helena will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. Father Larry Sergott will officiate.

Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
