Helen A. Linsenman Sheltrown, age 101, was born on March 4, 1920, and passed away October 26, 2021, at her home in West Branch. She was the fourth daughter of Michael and Anna Linsenman. There were eight children from that union: Hilda, Florence, Harold, Iva, Helen, Howard, Lois, and Lorraine.
Ed Sheltrown and Helen met in 1933 when Ed dated Helen’s sister, Iva. Ed then switched his amorous sights to Helen. They married in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Ed’s grandparents in tow on October 8, 1938. From that union were born six children: Dale, Deonne, Joel, Glenda, Van, and Robin. Except for brief periods of time and wintering in Florida, they have lived in Edwards Township all of their lives.
Helen was widely known in the community and at Dale’s deer camp for her apple pies. She didn’t pass on this particular culinary skill to her daughters, unfortunately. She took great delight in having her hair, makeup and nails done, completing the look with her jewelry and scarves always wanting to look her best.
Throughout her lifetime she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Many people knew her as “Mammy”. Robin, her youngest child, loved music just like her mother. Helen loved going to the senior dances listening to Bob Kartes and his band. She also loved to hear her son, Joel, sing and, in fact, Joel’s gospel music was playing when she passed on to Heaven.
Helen is survived by children Dale (Lori) Sheltrown, Deonne (Wiley Boulding) Goodrow, Joel (Teresa) Sheltrown, Glenda (Steve) Neumann and Van (Debbie Hall) Sheltrown. Grandchildren Scott (Mary) Sheltrown, Krystn (Steve) Cedzidlo, Micayla (Jory) Harland, Michael Morris, Alison Sheltrown, Nick (Patti) Sheltrown, Don (Karolina) Sheltrown, Dawn (Bobby) Hillier, Lisa (Joey) Stankowski, Anne (Justin) Dalton, Ty VanOosten, Travis (Kari) VanOosten, Lindsay (Nick) Nadai, Jeff (Monica) Neumann, Eric Neumann, and 19 great grandchildren.
Helen is predeceased by her husband, Ed, daughter, Robin, great grandson, Isaiah, her siblings and sons-in-law, Dirk VanOosten and Donald Goodrow.
