Hazel Gladys Kartes

Hazel (Osbourn) Kartes, age 88, passed away on November 18, 2014 at Bortz Health Care in West Branch, MI. She was surrounded by her family. Hazel was married for 65 years to the love of her life, John R. Kartes.

Hazel is survived by her children: Joyce (Charles) Grezeszak of Lupton and Steven Kartes of West Branch; her grandchildren: Tammy (Vern) Weller II of Tawas, Cary (Tammy) Grezeszak of Lupton, Joe Grezeszak of West Branch, Jenniffer (Steve) Cline of West Branch, Walter Kaplaniak of Bay City, and Jane Hagar of Bay City; great grandchildren: Caleb Grezeszak, Alexandra (Brent) Wangler, Vern Weller III, Emily and Hannah Cline, and Jacob Kaplaniak; and great great grandchildren: Wyatt, Cayden, Logan, and Katie Wangler. She is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Kartes, daughter, Janith Kaplaniak, and granddaughter, Becky.

Family was the most important thing to Hazel. She was her happiest surrounded by family.

A special thank you to Bortz Health Care of West Branch for the kind and compassionate care given to Hazel. They loved her as we loved her, and for that we are extremely grateful.

Hazel was loved by so many. Many people were lucky enough to call her friend, grandma, or aunt, and claimed her as their own. Hazel loved them all. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery. John Munn will officiate.
