Harry H. Ellis, age 82 of West Branch, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 20, 2005 after a brief illness. Mr. Ellis had lived in West Branch since 1983, formerly of Saginaw. Harry was born to William and Agnes Ellis on June 28, 1923 in Saginaw. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January of 1942, attending radio operator and repair school and aerial gunnery school in Harlingen, TX, graduating with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After more training in the United States, he was sent overseas and spent the next two and a half years in England, France, Germany and Belgium. After his return, he worked for the Swift Food Service Co. in Saginaw and managed the company for 22 years until retiring in 1983. Harry was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman, making many trips to Canada to fish. He was a member of the West Branch Country Club, the American Legion Post #103 of West Branch, St. Joseph Church of West Branch and the First Baptist Church in Saginaw. Harry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Arlene Fischer Ellis, his sisters, Florence Passow and Betty Ader both of Saginaw and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret, and his brothers, Edward, Paul, William Jr. and Richard and his sister Mary Luplow. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, October 21, 2005 from 3-5 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the funeral home. Fr. Richard Seifferly will officate with burial following at Roselawn Cemetery in Saginaw. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church in West Branch or the First Baptist Church in Saginaw.
