Harris F. Benjamin, age 72 of Rose City passed away at his home Saturday June 5, 2004 after an extended illness. He had lived in Rose City for all of his life. He owned and operated Century 21-Benjamin Realty, and was a board member of the AuSable Valley Community Mental Health, a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City, the West Branch Country Club, the Elks Lodge #2378 and Myakka Pines Golf Club both of Englewood, FL and he was a private pilot. He was a past member of the Rose City Masonic Lodge, past president of the Rose City School Board and the West Branch-Rose City School Board and a former member of the Rose City city council. Mr. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Verleen Benjamin of Rose City, children--Brenda (Roger) Marsh, Rick (Sheri) Benjamin and Mark (Niko) Benjamin all of Rose City, Bob Benjamin of Gaylord, Jeff (Pam) Benjamin of Traverse City and Brian "Biff" (Lynette) Benjamin of The Dalles, OR. 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his brother Dan Benjamin of Rose City and sister Joyce O'Deay of Saginaw also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Genevieve Benjamin. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Monday June 7, 2004 from 2-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday June 9, 2004 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City. Rev. Thomas Spencer will officate with burial following at Lane Heights Cemtery, Lupton. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch or the Trinity United Methodist Church, Rose City.
