Harold Robert Good

Harold Robert Good, age 92, went to meet his Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at West Branch Regional Medical Center of pneumonia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Harold was born in McBain, MI on December 24, 1913 to Rev. William Harvey Good and Malinda A. Rowe Good. Harold's family moved from McBain to Prescott, MI in the spring of 1918 where they purchased a farm. The move was by wagon and sleigh on M-55, which was a single trail. The children kept warm in a piano box. They had carried pigs in the wagon and had two cows tied behind. The trip took 3 days. Harold graduated from West Branch High School in 1932. He married Delores I. Spohn of Flint, MI on January 15, 1938 at the home of his parents. He worked as an auto body repairman until retirement. During his career he has worked in Detroit, West Branch, Selkirk, and Bay City. He finished his career with Draper Chevrolet in Bay City. Harold enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, reading and being with his family. He was a Sunday school teacher, lay speaker and Deacon Emeritus at the Zion Church of the Brethren. Harold enjoyed meeting and talking to people and was gifted with a great sense of humor. No one was a stranger. Harold is survived by his wife, Delores; and four children; Nancy (Ken) Hughey, and Barbara (Gary) Hughey of West Branch; Leroy (Mary Ellen) Good of Prescott; and Rosemary (Robert) Jameson of Bay City; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren; sister N. Joyce Best of Mt. Morris; brother Dean (Johanna) Rowe of California; sister in law Corrine Good of West Branch; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jacob B. Good, Wilbur S. Good, Orville W. Good, Orland C. Good; sisters, Naomi E. (Good) Miller, Mildred M. (Good) Sakulich, Lillian Good, and Ada L. (Good) Scheffer; two great grandchildren, Jeremy J. Burgher and Kevin J. Hughey. Visitation is Wednesday, February 22, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday, the 23 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, West Branch, MI. The funeral service of celebration will be officiated by Rev. Donald Wolfgang, Sr. at the Zion Church of the Brethren, 13 Miles east of West Branch on M-55, on Friday, February 24 at 11:00 AM. There will be a visitation preceding the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Churchill Township Cemetery in Selkirk, MI. Gifts in memory may be given to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch or to the Zion Church of the Brethren.
