Harold McNeil Gardner Jr.

Harold McNeil Gardner Jr., age 59, known by those close to him as JR or Jay, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 29, 2024, while being transported to MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI. He was a resident of St. Helen, Michigan since 2017, after moving from Lakeland, Florida. He was born in Troy, New York, on Tuesday, June 8, 1965. Harold was a devoted truck driver for over 30 years, working at moving companies where he helped many families move their cherished belongings from home to home all over the United States.

In his free time, Harold loved to play video games, sing along to music, and spend his time with his loved ones. He was passionate about helping others, and always had the best advice to give. He graduated from high school in New York in the early 80s. He had a loving, compassionate, and care-free spirit that touched the lives of many people near and far.

Harold is survived by his daughter Shelby Lynn Gardner, sister Lynn Messenger, fiancée Taylor Lee Offord, stepson Travis O’Neil Offord, his pet dachshund Pepper, as well as a large number of friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold M. Gardner Sr. and Ruth E. (Murtha) Gardner, sister Diane (Messenger) Gwizdala, and brother Steven Messenger.

A cremation is planned, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
