Gretchen A. Obrecht

Gretchen A. Obrecht, age 93 of West Branch, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009 at Harlin Assisted Living. Mrs. Obrecht had lived in West Branch since 2001, formerly of Fenton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fenton and Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Obrecht graduated from the University of Michigan. She served on the Board of Directors for the Ligon Land for Learning, taught at the Mercy College of Detroit School of Nursing and retired from Carmen Ainsworth Schools. She was also a volunteer for the Carmen Ainsworth Native American Youth Program. She enjoyed reading, being outdoors, traveling and gardening. Mrs. Obrecht is survived by her daughter, Robin (Edward) Fritz of West Branch, granddaughter, Lisa (Michael) Gibson of West Branch, her great-grandchildren Jonathan and Keelan and her nephew Wayne (Diane) Beardsley of Cape Coral, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her brother Peter Beardsley and her nephew Lee Beardsley.
