Gordon Joseph Anderson

Gordon J. Anderson, age 83 of Alger, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, MI. He was born on May 27, 1934 to Clarence and Dorothea Anderson in Detroit, MI. Gordon married Loraine Charnoske on June 30, 1956 in Detroit, MI. He has lived in Alger since 1985, formerly of Redford. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and helped out as an usher. Gordon enjoyed riding motorcycles, bowling, playing baseball, being outdoors, and canoeing. He loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a very kind hearted gentle man, who loved life.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Loraine Anderson of Alger, daughter, Lisa Anderson, Alger, son, Kevin Anderson of Dyer, AR, daughter, Bridget (Jim) Carignan of Howell, son, Troy (Carrie) Anderson of Smyrna, TN, grandchildren; Christopher, Danielle, Nathan, Zachary, Angela, Daniel, Ryan, Lacey, Rebecca, great-grandchildren; Bethany, Grady, and Ava. Also surviving is brother, Russell (Emily) Anderson of Livonia and sister, Karen Harper. He is preceded in death by brothers; Donald Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, Loren Anderson, sister, Marjorie Rysztak, and son-in-law, Daniel Parsell.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 1:00 PM with visitation prior from 11:00 AM until time of Mass. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. Burial will follow at Alger Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made towards a headstone for the cemetery.
