Gilbert Douglas Bell

Gilbert Douglas Bell, age 95, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at The Horizon Senior Living in West Branch. He was born on July 1, 1924 in Flint to David and Grace (Frasier) Bell. He lived in West Branch since 1950, formerly of Bay City. Gilbert married Mary Colleen McDermott in Essexville on January 24, 1948. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII stationed in Italy and was part of the 485th Bomb Group Alumni Association. Gilbert enjoyed golfing and was a member of the West Branch Country Club.

Gilbert is survived by his children, David Bell of Crossville, TN, Douglas (Verna) Bell of Bluffton, SC, Ellen (Dan) Sentell of St. Helen and Andrew Bell of Park City, UT; grandchildren, Bryan, Andrea, Tom, Sara, Laura and Kara; great grandchildren. Jackson, Will, Mason, Allysen, Kaylee and Isaac; sister, Lorraine (James) Meerdo of Essexville; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Munley of Bay City, Kathleen Vink of Essexville, and Maureen McDermott; and brother-in-law, Terry (Virginia) McDermott of Bloomfield Hills, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Colleen in February 2019, brother, Donald Bell, and daughter-in-law, Margaret Bell.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Veteran Honors and brief ceremony at 12:00 p.m.
