Gerald Wayne Munn

March 20, 1934 — March 8, 2023

Gerald Wayne Munn, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home in West Branch, MI surrounded by his family. He had the biggest, most, giving heart. His heart finally wore out, just twelve days short of his 89th birthday.

Gerald was born in West Branch, the first day of spring, on March 20, 1934, to Samuel and Almina (VanWormer) Munn. He immediately became his older brother, Dale’s little buddy. The nick name stuck, and he was Buddy or Bud to all his family from then on.

Gerald had many jobs in his long life. They all involved operating big equipment. Be it a farm tractor, delivery truck, Army tank or a high cement mixer. He loved operating them all.

He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and then went into the Army Reserves until 1962.

Gerald’s most favorite place in the whole wide world was the Deer Camp in Luzerne. He was happiest when he could pack the place with family and friends.

Gerald worked with Webelos & Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Pioneer Power Antique and Gas Engine Club. He drove a tractor across the Big Mac four different times.

He married Patricia Scott on March 9, 1958, in Bay City, MI.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Patricia Munn; son Scott (Lorraine) Munn; daughters Marica (Alan) Doss, Lori (Ed) Brindley, Kathleen (Kenneth) Kirk, and Linda Smith; sisters Dianne (Walter) Sappington and Sharon (Gary) Walters; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and in-laws David and Ann Scott, Bonnie Scott, and Jerry and Cindy Scott.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin Munn; son in law Mark Smith; brother and sister in law Dale and Mildred Munn; sister and brother in law Elaine and Richard Zielinski; brother in law Thomas Scott; nephew Steven Zielinski; niece Anne Sappington; and Pat’s parents Ephrim and Mary Scott.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in the summer 2023.

Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch. Online condolences can be shared at www.steuernolmclaren.com
