Gerald T. (Jerry) Green

June 22, 1925 — May 26, 2004

Mr. Green, age 78, passed away at his home after a brief illness. He had lived in West Branch for all of his life. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, an American Red Cross Blood donor of 100 units, and he did janitorial maintenance for St. Joseph Catholic School for 35 years. He was a member and financial secretary for the K of C Council #2022 for 35 years, and a member of Hospice of Helping Hands, the Moose Lodge #2051, a director and member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, an Ogemaw County 4-H Leader, a past Muscular Dystrophy Chairman, a member and quartermaster for the VFW Post #3775, past chairman of the Ogemaw County Fire Board, and a past supervisor and trustee for Ogemaw Township. He was also a member of the Wildwood and Yellow Rockers Square Dance Group for many many years. Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Joan Green of West Branch, children--Bridget (Roderick) Wilkenson of South Lyon, Betty (Joseph) Green-Heffern of Englewood, CO, David (Julie) Green, and Patrick (Katherine) Green both of West Branch, Mary Jo (Carl) Scime of Milford and Michael (Pam) Green of Mason. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, his brother Robert (Naomi) Green of Long View TX and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Thomas and a sister, Gertrude Tripp. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday May 27, 2004 from 6-9 P.M. and Friday from 12-9 P.M. There will be a K of C Rosary recited at 7:30 P.M. Friday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 29, 2004 at St. Helen Catholic Church in St. Helen. Fr. Richard Seifferly will officate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Branch. In leiu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ogemaw County Veterans Alliance Building Fund or to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.
