Gerald R. "Pops" Burns

Gerald R. “Pops” Burns, age 78 of West Branch, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his home. Gerald was born on May 2, 1933 to William and Germaine Burns in Detroit, MI. Gerald had lived in West Branch since 2000, formerly of Macomb, MI. Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean War. He is an avid hunter and enjoys helping other people. Gerald is survived by wife, Cathy of West Branch, son, Pat Burns of Fairhaven, MI, daughter, Heather Strong of Chesterfield, MI, son, Robert (Jennifer) Strong of West Branch, son, Steven Strong of Macomb, grandchildren, Hanna, Nicholas, Anthony, Brendan, Mackenzie, Brogan, A.J., Brianna, Robert, Allison, and Tommy. Also surviving are brother, Charles Burns of Macomb, sister, Georgina (Robert) Rudolph of East Pointe, sister-in-law, Ruth Burns of Imlay City, beloved dog, Cody, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by son, Thomas Burns, and brothers, George and William Burns. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Monday, April 2, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Tim LaVere will officiate.
