Gerald M. Elmy, age 77 of West Branch, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had lived in West Branch since 1993, formerly of Gingellville. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a volunteer for the Gingellville Fire Department for many years. He retired from the Oakland County Central Garage in 1991 after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch and his hobbies were restoring antique cars and Model A’s. Gerald is survived by his wife, Ila Elmy of West Branch, children, Renee (John) Oltesvig of Carthage,North Carolina and Gerald (Linda) Elmy of Lake Orion, grandchildren, Andrea (Alton) Schmitt, Justin Oltesvig and Amber Elmy and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Brandon. Also surviving is his sister, Doris (Rolland) Polley of Clarkston. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter Elmy and his sister, Virginia Cole. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch. Rev. Robert Mohr will officiate. Burial will take place at Perry Mount Cemetery Park in Pontiac. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ogemaw Hills Christian School, West Branch.
