Georgetta Ann Garner

Georgetta Ann "Getta" Garner, aged 88, passed away at The Brook of West Branch on May 24, 2024. She was born on March 11, 1936, to George and Anna Dougherty in Munising, Michigan.

Getta will be remembered for her significant contributions as the owner and operator of Sundowner Resort in Houghton Lake. Her dedication and hard work shone brightest during her time running the Chamber of Commerce in Houghton Lake, serving as President of the Merchants Association, and being an esteemed member of ABWA.

She is survived by her loving son Earl George Garner, son Gary Thomas Garner, daughter Tina Marie Garner, son Danny Lee Garner; grandchildren Lyndsay Lee Maynerich, Taylor Thomas Garner, Kyle Robert Garner, Tammy Ann Thomas, Thomas Daniel Garner, Tony Lee Garner; 3 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Dixie (Dave) Bernard, Kathy Nephew, and Susie (Bill) Lyndrup.

Georgetta was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl Thomas Garner; brother Terry Dougherty; and sister Patricia Trovillion.

A memorial visitation in honor of Getta will take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 109 E Houghton Ave, West Branch, MI  48661 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Georgetta's legacy will live on through the memories she created with her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
