Frederick James Hegeman

June 30, 1945 — April 4, 2016

Frederick James Hegeman age 70, passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Monday, April 4, 2016 surrounded by his wife and children. Frederick was born on June 30, 1945 in Standish, MI to Frederick and Bernice (Scheid) Hegeman. He grew up in Rose City, MI and graduated from Rose City High School. He then attended Ferris before going to work for Ford Motor Co. He left Ford to attend Trade School, then returned to Ford Motor Co. working in Tool & Die and eventually ended up retiring from Ford Motor Co. Fred was a member of the Skidway Lake Moose Lodge, and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He spent many hours driving them around on his golf cart.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Peggy McKenna Hegeman of West Branch, daughters Michelle (Ron) Hegeman Wade of Wolverine Lake, Kirsten (Dan) Hegeman Coll of Howell, Tonia (Joe) Hegeman Schemer of Howell, and Sarah (Craig) Hegeman Sadler of Fenton. He has eight grandchildren Jennifer (Craig) Casto, Emily Wade, Chloe Schemer, Abby Schemer, Lexi Schemer, Morgan Coll, Charlie Sadler, and Jake Sadler; He is also survived by his brother Ken (Kathryn Hegeman of West Branch, sister Donna (George) Priesler of Allegan, Geraldine (Mike) Beltinck of Sartel, MN, and Beverly Clemens of Sanford, along with many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a later date.

Fred requested any memorial donations be made to Hospice of Helping Hands in memory of his mother, Bernice.
