Frederick Herman Allgeier, age 93, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 comfortably at his home in St. Helen, MI with his family by his side. He lived in St. Helen since 1985, formerly of Waterford. He was born on June 1, 1927 in Detroit the son of Frederick and Marion Allgeier. Frederick graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the US Army during World War II, stationed at Los Alamos, New Mexico, as a truck driver transporting supplies and the General at the time of the Atom Bomb project. On September 4, 1970, he married Barbara Little in Bloomfield Twp., MI. Frederick spent most of his career as a truck driver and retired in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Post #416 in St. Helen and enjoyed golfing, working, horses, word searches and helping others. He was known to his friends and family by his nickname, “Fast Freddy”, as he was a staple in the St. Helen community since 1949, always there to lend a hand whenever needed. As a trucker, he was the go-to man for anyone who needed anything hauled from sugar beets during hunting season, to horses across the nation. He was also known for his summertime garage sales where many people in the community would visit him for his unique finds and great conversations.
Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Allgeier; children, Lynnette Allgeier, Kristi (Christian) Beardslee and Tami (Brian) Parobek; stepchildren, Teri Mortimore and Jon Young; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; siblings, MaryLou Cunningham, Dorothy Gasioroski, William “Butch” Allgeier, Carolyn Watkins and Rita Filipek. He is preceded in death by his parents and sibling, Gerry Connell.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later time.
