Frank W.”Bill” Egan, age 85 of South Branch passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 at his home. He had lived in South Branch for the past 25+ years, formerly of Saginaw. Frank served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong member and Honor Guard member of the VFW Post #7435 in Hale. Frank enjoyed taking care of his yard and his grape vine arbour and he enjoyed motor sports, and was a former Jackpine motorcycle racer. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Egan of South Branch whom he married on February 21, 1953, children; Dick (Cheryl) Egan and Bo (Chris) Egan both of Rose City, James Egan of South Branch and Tom Egan of Traverse City, grandchildren; David, Ashley, Miranda, Jason, Alissa and Rebecca, his sister Ruth Krenz of Bay Port and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Findlay. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 3-9 p.m. On Friday, visitation at the funeral home will begin at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Chaplain Hank Wasick of the VFW Post #7435 will officiate with burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery, South Branch. Memorial Contributions may be made to the VFW Post #7435 Hale, Michigan.
