Frank F. Gentz Jr., age 70 of St. Helen passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gentz was born and raised in Trenton, MI and had lived in St. Helen since 1974, formerly from the Down River area. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a crew chief on a bomber in the Strategic Air Command. He worked as a Millwright for Chrysler Corp. for 12 ½ years and worked 20 plus years for Delphi in Saginaw, MI. He was also a welding instructor at Kirtland Community College. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Helen Catholic Church in St. Helen. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt and fish. Frank is survived by his wife Kathleen Gentz of St. Helen, children; Rae (Terry) Fritz and Leigh (Bruce) David both of West Branch and Frank (Dawn) Gentz III of St. Helen, grandchildren; Eric (Nickole) David, Adam David (Ally Lively), Evan (Michael) Bedtelyon, Alexandria Gentz, Bryann Gentz, Erin Fritz and Taylor Fritz, great-grandchildren, Seth David, Noah David, Tristan Bedtelyon and Landon Bedtelyon. Also surviving is his sister Lena Sharpe of Roscommon, his brother-in-law Robert (Rose) Wrobel of St. Helen and many nieces and nephews. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
