Evelyn Marie Melvin

Evelyn Melvin, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 6, 2018 at her home in West Branch surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on March 22, 1936 to Ernest and Marie (Edgar) Cordes in Hillman, MI. Evelyn has been a resident of West Branch since 1994 previously of Royal Oak. Evelyn is a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She loved to make hats for the local cancer center, quilts for her family, and afghans for the Calvary ladies mission group.

Surviving family include her husband Robert Melvin of West Branch, children Tina (Dennis) Sisco of West Branch, Tammy (John) Stoian of LeRoy, and Kim Blackett of Shelby Township, and Robert (Mary) Melvin of Roseville. She had 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Gordon (Darlene) Cordes of Hillman, and sister Geraldine (Erskine) Lightfoot of Tawas. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe Cordes, Harry Cordes, 2 grandchildren Stephanie Dungan, and Lindsey Melvin.

A memorial service for Evelyn will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch.
