Eugene Frederick Hasse

Eugene Frederick Hasse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI, at the age of 89. Born on August 4, 1935, in St. Charles, MI, he was a man who dedicated his life to his family and his work.

Eugene had a fulfilling career as a pipefitter welder and took great pride in his work. He retired from Local 85, where he was respected for his skill and dedication.

On September 7, 1957, in Saginaw, Eugene married the love of his life, Patricia Page. Their union was the foundation of a beautiful family that has grown over the years. Eugene and Patricia lived in Rose City, MI for over 20 years, formerly of St. Charles.

Beyond his career and family responsibilities, Eugene had a spirit that thrived outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, often finding solace and joy by the water. Gardening was another passion of his, where he found peace in tending to flowers and plants, nurturing life as he had done with his family. His love for welding never waned, as he always carried a sense of pride in creating and crafting with his hands. A true enthusiast of John Deere tractors, he cherished moments spent in the countryside, embodying the spirit of hard work and a love for the land.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Hasse, and his children: Tamara (Steve) Donaldson, James (Karen) Hasse, Michael (Melanie) Hasse, Julie (Steve) Sanchez, Rodney (Patti) Hasse, and Randy (Jacqlyn) Hasse. Gene’s legacy lives on in his 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by siblings, Ed Hasse, Allen (Sally) Hasse, and Ronald (Sue) Hasse.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Gladys (Roose) Hasse, and his beloved siblings: Mary Burke, Laura LaValey, and Robert Hasse.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Rose Township Hall, 3380 Lupton Rd., Lupton, MI 48635 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ogemaw County 4-H.
