Eugene Ferritto, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had lived in West Branch, formerly of Roseville, MI. Eugene was born to Frank and Victoria Ferritto on January 29, 1926 in Detroit, MI. On April 24, 1954 he married Mary Calcagno in Detroit, MI. Eugene was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, K of C #2022, American Legion, and Optimist Club. Eugene enjoyed politics, reading, baseball, and most of all spending time with his family.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Ferritto of West Branch, MI; children, Nancy (Larry) Girardot of Lake City, MI, Patricia (Jim) Vaninwagen of Ypsilanti, MI, and Frank Ferritto of Wilson, NC and daughter in law, Janet Major-Ferritto; grandchildren, Courtney (Nathan) Nederhood, Steven Girardot, Sarah Vaninwagen, Rachel Vaninwagen, Emily (Everette) Moomey, Jamison Ferritto, and Abigail Ferritto; great grandchildren, Valerie, Elise, Elianna, Ezrian; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Vincent and Alphonse Ferritto.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI will begin on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, June 20, 2015, Eugene will lie in state at the St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Mass at 12:30 p.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
