Erwin M. Hawley, age 92 of St. Helen, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at his home. Erwin was born November 30, 1924 to Howard and Mary Ellen Hawley in Sanborn Twp., MI. Erwin enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and keeping an immaculate lawn. Erwin was a member of the V.F.W. and served in the US Army during World War II.
Erwin is survived by his wife, Dona Hawley of St. Helen, daughter, Gloria (Russell) Oyster of Rose City, son, Steve (Diane Hill) McDonald of FL, daughter, Tamara (Dennis) Sinicki of Essexville, daughter, Laura (Gary) Thomas of AZ, brother, William (JoAnn) Hawley of Beaverton, and sister, Mabel Starkey of Clio. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and special friend, Duane Loyer. A special thanks to caregiver, Leah Kramer for all her help. He is preceded in death by 1st wife, Shirley A. Hawley in 1999, son, John Hawley in 2002, daughter, Jill McIntosh, granddaughter, Crystal Parker, sisters, Pearl Beek, Ida Ethridge, Barbara Knepp, Hazel Harshburger, and brothers, Richard and Alvin Hawley.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Lee Austin will officiate. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, MI at 3:30 pm with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Intellicare Hospice.
