Erwin "Ed" R. Skowronek

Erwin Raymond Skowronek, age 88, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 in West Branch, MI. He has lived in West Branch for 41 years, previously from Alpena, MI. Ed was born to Thomas and Joan (Pieczyniha) Skowronek on December 16, 1925 in Alpena, MI. He married Alice White on July 3, 1948 in Metz, MI. Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #2022, VFW and American Legion in Standish, MI. He owned and operated Sandys Restaurant and Sandys Cash and Carry for over 30 years.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alice Skowronek of West Branch, MI; children: Randy (Cindy) Skowronek of West Branch, MI, Mark (Dawn) Skowronek of West Branch, MI, Lynn (Joe) Roman of Anchorage, AK; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sandy Skowronek, granddaughter, Samantha Roman and great granddaughter, Chloe Bolyard.
Visitation at Steuernol McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 3-9pm. On Tuesday, Ed will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 am. Father Patrick Maher will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands of West Branch, MI or to the family.
