Ernest Arthur Peterson

Ernest Arthur Peterson, age 86, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at The Villa at West Branch.

Ernie Peterson was a lifelong resident of McMillan, MI. He was the sixth child born to Frank and Agatha (Muringer) Peterson. Ernie attended McMillan High School and later served in the US Army.

Ernie came back home after the Army to be with his aging parents and got a job in the woods cutting pulp wood, and he became one of the best woodsmen in the area. Ernie enjoyed all the simple pleasures in life hunting, fishing, and gardening. He started wood carving as a hobby and again became one of the best wood carvers of fishing decoys. He is known all over the U.S. for his beautiful decoys.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agatha (Muringer) Peterson and siblings, Vernon, Rose Marie, Myrtle Ann, Alonzo, and Raymond.

Ernest is survived by his cousin, Gerald (Renita) Muringer of Prescott and best friend, Ed Auge.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date in McMillan, MI.
