Elizabeth A. (Betty) Christenson

Elizabeth A. Christenson, age 79, of West Branch, MI. passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She was born to William and Florence Mooney in Glens Falls, NY on June 15, 1927 and had lived in West Branch since 1979, formerly of Spring Lake MI. Betty graduated from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, New York. She worked for the Ottawa County Public Health Dept. in Grand Haven, MI and Bortz Health Care in West Branch. She was a volunteer and nurse for Hospice of Helping Hands, a parish nurse and member of St. Joseph Church and was a Red Cross volunteer working on blood drives. She was also a past Girl Scout leader and she received “Mother of the Year” award while living in Bristol, TN. Betty is survived by her children, Patricia (Robert) Pfeiffer of Cardington, OH, Karen (James) Greene of Antioch, TN, Peter Christenson of Redondo Beach, CA, William (Denise) Christenson of Pickerington, OH, Linda (Tom) Christenson of St. Peters, MO, Pamela (Larry) Stephens of Chantilly, VA, Lisa (David) Gutierrez of West Branch, Jean Christenson and Kim (Mark) Spieles both of Ann Arbor, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul Christenson in 2004, her granddaughter, Meghan Spieles; parents, Florence and William Mooney, sisters; Kay Selig and Eleanor Dougherty and a brother, William Mooney. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 1-9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2007 at St. Joseph Church. Fr. Robert Bissot will officiate with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Branch. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, 335 E.
