Edward Ziggy Buckley, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. He had recently moved to West Branch, formerly from West Bloomfield, MI. Edward was born to Zigmund and Mary (Urban) Buczko in Detroit, MI on October 21, 1923. Edward served during World War II as a United States Air Force Pilot from 1943 to 1945. He married his high school crush, Eleanor Kerwin, on June 18, 1948. Edward graduated from the University of Detroit in 1963, after 15 years of night school while raising a family, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree for Mechanical Engineer. He retired at the age of 77. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and he loved learning and teaching his family new things.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor Buckley; sons, Donald (Patricia) Buckley and Mark (Peggy) Buckley; daughter, Marilyn (Kirk) Louis and Leonore (James) Tisso; grandchildren, Angela Buckley, Kelley (John) Rose, Matthew (Jessica) Buckley, Meghan (Jesse) Carr, Lindsay (Michael) Barber, Charles Cockram, Jason (Amanda) Buckley, and Gwendolyn Buckley; great grandchildren, Owen Rose, Isabella Rose, Aiden Rose, John Buckley Rose, Samuel Rose, Mary Jane Rose, Matthew Buckley, Addison Buckley, Jameson Buckley, Breslyn Buckley, Harper Carr, Edward Carr, Graves Buckley, and Leo Ziggy Barber. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Drypen.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Veteran Service.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Ogemaw County Veteran Alliance Building Fund.
