Edward W. Barton Jr., age 58 of Lupton, passed away Sunday May 22, 2011 at his home. Mr. Barton had lived in Lupton since 1989 formerly of Dryden. Edward affectionately known as “Fast Eddie” owned his own auto repair shop specializing in transmissions. He was a race car driver, driving for many years at the Whittemore Speedway on Saturday nights. He also helped as part of many pit crews. He enjoyed being outdoors, taking long walks, camping and bicycle riding with his grandchildren. Edward is survived by his wife of 31 years Marlene Barton of Lupton, children Vincent (Kathy) Barton of Lapeer and Linda (Chris) Short of Hale, 4 grandchildren Taylor Barton, Alyssa Barton, Laney Short and Ray Short and his mother Ina Barton of Oxford. Also surviving is his sisters, Ina Dockham of Oxford and Debbie Young of Lapeer and his brother, Donald Broecker of Dryden. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Sr. and his sister Linda Kennard. A Memorial Service gathering will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 2-7 p.m. at the Rose Township Hall.
