Edmund J. Dare, age 101, passed away at his home with his daughter by his side on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in Lupton, MI. He was born on November 18, 1918 in Lupton to John and Gertrude (Wolfe) Dare. Edmund served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific on The Battleship USS Indiana. He was the captain of two senior bowling leagues until he was 96 years old. Edmund owned and rebuilt his own plane and was a private pilot for many years. He liked remote controlled helicopters and spending time with his family.
Edmund is survived by his children, Virginia Lovejoy of Ft. Myers, FL, Christinia Lucier of Coopersville, MI, Phyllis Sierra of Lincoln, AR, Alice Dare of Lupton; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ellen and step-daughter, Donna Gohn.
A graveside service with veteran honors will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Heaton will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
